Theory of Knowledge also known as TOK is a special subject in the IB Diploma. TOK provides students with the opportunity to find out the nature of knowledge by exploring it through areas of knowledge and ways of knowing.

Our knowledge is unlimited as it keeps on expanding, but as the most essential and fundamental question in the subject is: ”How do we know, what we know?” TOK is all about this question.

In TOK, you investigate 8 ways of knowing:
Sense perception
Reason
Emotion
Faith
Imagination
Intuition
Memory
Language
In TOK, you investigate in 8 areas of knowledge:
Mathematics
Natural Sciences
History
The arts
Religious Knowledge systems
Indigenous Knowledge systems
Ethics

Combined, TOK allows you to go beyond assumptions (both personal and ideological), and see the world through and with different perspectives.

It only requires an open mind to explore the world of TOK.
